Cleaning your Crystals
Crystals by nature pick up energies and vibrations from the environment. They store energies (both positive and negative), and in some cases amplify them. By the time you receive your crystals, they have passed through many hands so you should clean them immediately to ensure they are clear of negative energies. You should also clean them on a regular basis, especially if you are using them for healing.
Try one of these methods to clear your crystals.
Sea Salt
Sea salt is one of the best and easiest ways to clean your crystals. Place a tablespoon of sea salt into a glass of water, then fully immerse crystals for 8-24 hours. Allow them to dry naturally in sun or moon light (depending on the crystal) to recharge them.
Some crystals such as Kyanite breakdown in water and should not be soaked in this way.
Crystals can also be cleaned using dry sea salt. To use this method place salt in a jar or ceramic container (do not use plastic or metal containers). Bury crystal in the sea salt pointing down and leave over night. Gently brush all the sea salt off the crystal.
In both cases ensure that you only use sea salt, as table salt often contains aluminium and other chemicals. If you live near the ocean, the ideal way of cleaning your crystals would be to collect ocean water or wash them in the ocean.
Moonlight
This is a great way of cleaning your crystals simply place them outside on the night of the full moon.
Smudging
You can smudge your crystal using sage or cedar. Hold a stick of burning cedar or sage while passing your crystal through the smoke several times.
Tap water
Tap water is a quick way to clear an overloaded crystal. Simply place the crystal under running water with the points facing down. Hold the intentions that the negative energies are flowing down the sink.
Other Crystals
Some crystals such as carnelian and clear quartz are great for cleaning other crystals pop one of these in a bag with your tumble stones. This is a great way of cleaning softer crystals. However, you will need to clean your quartz or carnelian from time to time.
